Mat Sliwinski of Sakura Digital and Sliwinski Digital: Producing videos

Mat Sliwinski runs Sakura Digital which focuses on cross-cultural video marketing, connecting Japan to the world. They partner with businesses to engage, target and connect with their audiences in the Japanese and international market through creating video marking strategies and content. In addition, Mat runs a couple of other businesses too such as Sliwinski Digital which is a digital transformation agency helping businesses to unlock growth.

Why did you start your own business?

I’ve been an entrepreneur ever since I finished high school, so I’ve never worked traditionally for a big corporate company. This is all I’ve known, but I don’t think I’d want it any other way.

I just kept starting and growing businesses - I suppose you’d call me a serial entrepreneur! This is my latest endeavour.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of running your business(es)?
The most rewarding aspect is being able to see solutions and services that we have provided for clients, help achieve their goals and KPI’s, especially in a cross-cultural context. That’s not so easy to pull off sometimes!

What are your top 3 frustrations with managing money for your business and what would a better future look like?
Global payments, administrative duties and extended hours are my key frustrations with running a business mostly solo. In terms of the future, I’d go so far as to suggest blockchain technology being the future of business, and solving our problems of global payments in particular. Parpera is a good step towards this future!
