Matt McShane founded Safely Secured - the world's first Anti-Theft Dog Harness and Lead Company, based out of Melbourne.

Why did you decide to start your own business?

‍Independence. The thought of working ‘for a boss’ for the next 35 years fills me with dread. I want to be my own boss and enjoy the flexibility that comes with it.

What are your top 3 frustrations with managing money for your business and what would a better future look like?

• Having to constantly copy transactions from my bank to my trusty spreadsheet (I’m a late adopter to Xero and Quickbooks)
• Not knowing what category each transaction classes as which frustrates my accountant at tax time
• Getting people to pay invoices on time!
